Over a long career Colin Beard has distinguished
himself in many fields of photography.



Throughout the 1970s he was one of Australia’s most accomplished
fashion photographers, producing numerous fashion spreads and
covers for magazines such as Vogue, Cleo, Dolly and Cosmopolitan.

He won many awards both in Australia and overseas.
In 1977, he became a founding member of the newly inaugurated
Sydney College of the Arts and later created the photography
courses at The University of Technology, Sydney.

Over recent years he has been been one of Australia’s leading Photojournalists. He was the first feature photographer
commissioned for Australian Geographic magazine and he has
since provided many features for this and other magazines.



He has published several large format books including  The Mountain Men (1980), The River People (1982), Starlight’s Trail (1985), Australia the Beautiful; Cookbook (1987), Australia the Beautiful (1988) and Sacred Places in Australia (1992).

His work has been exhibited throughout Australia and world wide.
He currently lives in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
